Money matters and we’ll never tell you differently! So many of us build businesses and run away at the thought of budgeting, tax and the national legal requirements - the things that matter. But in order to have a viable and long-lasting business, your finances need to be healthy.
📅 On Tuesday 15th June 2021, we will be hosting a live workshop with Emiley Phillips of @thefemale.accountant (UK-based accountant) and Keila Hill-Trawick of @littlefishaccounting (US-based accountant) to get you clued up on all things business finance.
💪 You’ll walk away feeling extremely confident with managing your businesses’ money, understanding the tax system, knowing it’s ok to outsource the help you need and finally understand that legal jargon!
In this workshop we will cover:
- The different business entities
- What should you register as?
- When should you register your business?
- When/how do you hire an accountant?
- How the tax system works
- How to reduce your taxable income
- How to pay a wage/salary
- The best software's you can use to track your finances
- Budgeting tips for small businesses
Meet the speakers:
Emiley Phillips (UK)
At age 15, Emiley’s father passed her a Tesco bag filled with coffee-stained receipts - from then she found her passion for accounting, business finance and profit margins. Working in industry, she noticed prejudice in the workplace. Simultaneously the first UK national lockdown began due to the Covid-19 pandemic and Emiley started to see many women achieving success during this period. Her thoughts instantly drifted to how she can help empower and provide financial services for these women. She decided to replace the typical male stereotype with a familiar voice to establish a personal connection with her clients. Emiley founded The Female Accountant which educates business owners and helps them take control of their finances.
Keila Hill-Trawick, Little Fish Accounting (USA)
Keila Hill-Trawick is the Founder + Principal of Little Fish Accounting, a boutique CPA firm dedicated to the accounting and tax needs of service providers and small online business owners. Little Fish Accounting was born out of the desire to create a safe space for entrepreneurs that are often overlooked by larger accounting firms. After over a decade of experience in the government and private sector, she decided to apply her accounting expertise to advise small businesses in reaching their financial goals.
The workshop will be hosted by Rebecca Tembo, the founder of self-titled womenswear label and The Entry Platform. As seen in Business Insider, Rebecca has created a safe space for a community of fashion designers and other small business owners to network and develop their industry, business, and mindset skills.
